BIOGRAPHY
Ethérea is a Mexican Dark-Progressive Heavy Band.
History
• In early '93, Tadeo & Fernando formed "Credo" ( in Mexico City ), and in September Alfredo joins the band. In February '94 the first drummer leaves and the rest of the band continues as a trio, using sequencers in their new compositions.
• By the end of '94, the band's name changes to "Ethérea", with the intention of complementing the musical, lyrical & visual concept.
• In '95 Ethérea makes their first demo tape and live shows. In November & December they play at the "First Alternative Rock Contest", held in Rock Stock Bar, among 64 contenders. Their song "Despedida" (Farewell) is included in the CD with the other 7 finalists.
• In '96 they played constantly in Mexico City's club circuit, mainly in Rock Stock, La Diabla, Rockotitlán, La Viuda, etc. sometimes sharing the stage with some of the most important local bands like Santa Sabina, Cuca, Kerygma, Resorte & Juguete Rabioso. They were invited to open for Slaughter ( June 15, '96 ).
• In August '96, Milton Carlos joins the band, improving the band's live sound, and contributing in the creation of new songs like "La Caída" (The Fall), "Gárgolas" (Gargoyles) & "La Inocencia Espera" (Innocence Awaits). Also, new arrangements were made for songs like "Entre la Tierra y el Cielo" (Between Earth & Heaven), "En Contra del Viento" (Against the Wind) & "Rá/Ser Inmortal" (Rah/Immortal Being).
• All of '97 Ethérea played clubs like La Diabla, Rockotitlán, Tequila Boom, El Muro, Radio City Café, La Mala Vida, El Chopo, Rock Shop, as well as in 2 nearby cities:, Cuernavaca & Tepoztlán. During August/September, they make a digital recording at Opus Audio Studio. This recording includes the next songs: "Despedida" (Farewell), "La Caída" (The Fall), "Cuando Mata el Silencio" (When Silence Kills), "Rá/Ser Inmortal" (Rah/Immortal Being), "Olvido" (Oblivion) & "Mi Destino" (She's My Fate).
• 1998 became a trasitional year, due to the developing of a new sound, identity & direction, trying to add new elements to their established style; the band is also considering having guest musicians in order to broaden their scope.
Songs like "Jade" (Jade), "La Torre" (The Tower), "El Templo de La Luz Negra" (Temple of Black Light), "La Profundidad Engaña" (Depth Deceives), are the result of this ongoing period.
• In 1999 the band starts a new phase with the inclusion of a keyboard player where the sound is improved and the lyrics rise into a new dimension.
